How to Volunteer

It is easy to become your neighborhood hero! Forest View’s goal is to make the application process informative and exciting for prospective members. You can even ride-along before submitting your application*!

*Ride-along program available with permission from the Chief of Operations or his designee.

Applying

  • Sign-up for a ride-along for a night.
  • Complete an application.
  • Contact the Vice President, Joy Eatmon via email or phone 804-662-0552.
  • Obtain a doctor’s note clearing you to ride on the ambulance, a copy of your DMV driving record, and complete a background check. Don’t worry, Forest View will help with this process!
  • Interview with the Vice President and the Operations team.
  • Membership application is voted on by the Board of Directors.

Now You’re a Member

  • Obtain uniforms, building keys and other equipment from Operations
  • Active members are assigned to crews
  • Each new member receives a day-long orientation program
  • Members train with their crews and become cleared ‘assistants’
  • Member begins training to become an EMT
  • Additional training opportunities are available to EMTs, including vehicle operation, HazMat awareness, Incident Command and many more
  • Begin training to become an Attendant in Charge or Emergency Driver

Most meetings and classes at Forest View are held at Station 3, 8008 Midlothian Turnpike, near Buford Road. Our building is just up the hill from Chesterfield Fire Station #9.
